A UNIQUE VINEYARD IN ANJOU

Hidden between the (le) Loir and (la) Loire rivers is a vineyard of great importance. This unique 16th century vineyard at Lué-en-Baugeois was created by the monks from the Priory of Tuffiére-Brulée.

Today, this Anjou appellation vineyard produces 13 grape varieties on 26 hectares of sun-drenched hilly slopes

Convinced of the importance of sustainable wine-growing, together with the importance of protecting our soil, we use appropriate techniques to obtain healthy, ripe grapes. This means working the land, growing grass between rows, taking prophylactic measures (thinning out the leaves and grapes), and choosing environmentally-friendly products (we use no insecticides or anti-botrytis products). Our wines are developed using traditional methods, some aged in oak barrels in cellars dug into the limestone escarpment. Hence the reference to tuffeau in the name ‘Tuffière’.

One of our plots produces wines

That were historically favoured by the powerful bishops of Angers who lived close-by at the Château de Villevêque. Now, we welcome visitors to these impressive cellars located in an ancient troglodyte cave, cut into the local limestone rock and oEer unforgettable wine tastings.

This family-owned vineyard is now in the hands of Clarisse and Fabrice,

who took over from Clarisse’s parents and have since developed 13 further hectares, notably by planting more Chenin, the most noble Loire Valley grape variety. We produce approximately 75 000 bottles of wine a year, including sparkling ‘Crémants’, white wines, rosés and red wines. We therefore have a wide range of wines spanning from sweet to dry, from light to more complex wines. In other words, we have made sure that whatever your tastes may be, we hav it! We are open to visitors from Monday to Saturday every week and we would be delighted to share our passion and craftsmanship with you. Give us a call to organise a wine tasting session!
